KAIJU MASTERCLASS is a free online event that brings together creators, researchers, and scholars of Japanese sci-fi cinema and television for three days of in-depth conversations and panels. Learn about the history of the genre, the filmmaking process, the art of film scoring, unmade projects, and more.

The first Kaiju Masterclass was held Oct. 2-4, 2020. Kaiju Masterclass 2 is currently in the works and will premiere Nov. 5-7, 2021. Special guests and programming schedule will be announced in the coming weeks. Kaiju Masterclass is created by a dedicated team of genre authorities and enthusiasts, including: Steve Ryfle (co-author, ISHIRO HONDA: A LIFE IN FILM, FROM GODZILLA TO KUROSAWA); Erik Homenick (AKIRAIFUKUBE.ORG); John DeSentis (conductor/creator KAIJU CRESCENDO); Patrick Galvan (writer, SYFY.COM); Matt Parmley and Kyle Byrd (co-hosts, KAIJU TRANSMISSIONS podcast); and Kyle Gilmore (filmmaker and artist, VINTAGE REEL PRODUCTIONS).
